The Surabaya children’s home provides loving care for children who have either been abandoned, severely neglected, orphaned or who have been otherwise traumatized. Each child has a caring, safe place to grow up, and is given an excellent education with every opportunity to succeed.
Project Partner: Yayasan Kasih Anugerah Indonesia
Surabaya, Indonesia’s second largest city, has large numbers of children who are at risk. Many children are orphans or categorised as neglected by the government. The figures vary but estimates are that there are hundreds, possibly thousands of orphaned children living on the streets or in slums.
Yayasan Kasih Anugerah, in partnership with HOHI, opened a new children’s centre in 2009. This home caters for 24 children.
